Abstract
In the growing of the recently released oriental pear cultivars, ¢¥Gamcheonbae¢¥ and ¢¥Yeongsanbae¢¥, the fruit skin color has generally been recognized as an important problem in fresh fruit marketing. In order to improve the fruit skin color of these pear varieties, a series of studies was conducted to find out the effects of kinds of bags on the improvement of fruit skin color. The black-colored bag which was made from roll-paper showed the best air-permeability with 18.9 sec/100 mL but showed the lowest in both light transmittance (0.46%) and inside temperature of bag. The inside air-temperature of bag and the chlorophyll contents of fruit skin were increased according to the light transmittance of bags, whereas the brightness of fruit skin decreased. There were no significant differences in fruit hardness, acidity between bagged and non-bagged fruits, but the content of soluble solids was decreased by bagging. As a whole, black-colored bag improved remarkably fruit skin color and appearance of ¢¥Gamcheonbae¢¥ and ¢¥Yeongsanbae¢¥ pears.
